Many of Legal Aid Center’s clients are children in foster care or children whose parents cannot navigate their way through the special education legal processes, resulting in their children being left behind educationally. Our attorney will attempt to negotiate the delivery of appropriate services and accommodations and if unsuccessful, pursue relief in due process hearings and in court. Our office is expanding this unit and wants to see children reach their full educational potential despite bureaucratic barriers in their way.
PreferredExperience and Skills
The ideal candidate is committed to public interest law and community service and has the desire to work with and zealously advocate for our clients. Experience in education law is preferred. While some litigation experience is helpful, no prior experience is necessary as Legal Aid Center provides extensive training. The ability to speak Spanish is always beneficial. The candidate must be a licensed attorney in good standing from any United States jurisdiction (Nevada offers special licensing for attorneys relocating to Nevada to provide legal services through Legal Aid Center.)
