Summary
The Fleet Reliability Engineer plays a critical role in ensuring the ongoing airworthiness, operational performance, and safety of Allegiant’s expanding fleet. This role bridges engineering acumen with analytical rigor and regulatory compliance, driving data-driven reliability improvements across aircraft systems and components.
The ideal candidate is a systems thinker with strong technical and investigative skills, capable of supporting FAA-mandated Reliability Programs, analyzing data to identify mechanical and operational trends, and collaborating with cross-functional teams and OEM partners. This is a strategic, high-visibility role well suited for proactive professionals passionate about aviation safety and continuous improvement.

Education Details:
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a quantitative or technical field such as aerospace engineering, aviation management, statistics, systems engineering, business analytics, or information systems.
- Minimum three (3) years experience in aviation reliability/airline technical operations or;
- Minimum two (2) years experience in aviation reliability/airline technical operations with a Master’s.
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with a data-centric approach to reliability problem-solving.
- Familiarity with FAA Reliability Programs (e.g., D074), aircraft systems performance, ATA chapter structure, and MSG-3–based maintenance frameworks.
- Experience working with large datasets; proficiency in Excel, Power BI, and Tableau; familiarity with SQL or Python is a plus.
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant Certificate (A&P).
- Lean Six Sigma certification.
- Experience with TRAX or similar airline maintenance tracking systems.
- Exposure to predictive analytics or reliability modeling tools.
- Familiarity with Airbus and Boeing fleet types, including systems, troubleshooting, and maintenance practices.
- Knowledge of commercial aircraft systems and maintenance strategies.
- Ensure ongoing compliance with Allegiant’s Reliability Program Manual (RPM) and FAA D074 requirements.
- Perform deep-dive root cause analysis using operational and maintenance data to identify performance gaps, optimize scheduled maintenance tasks, and drive long-term fleet health.
- Monitor, analyze, and classify incoming data, including PIREPs, delay/cancellation data, and component removals, to detect early trends or chronic issues.
- Manage and update internal databases for Chronic Discrepancies, Service Difficulty Reports (SDRs), and Mechanical Reliability Reports, ensuring timely submission to the FAA.
- Create and deliver impactful dashboards, data visualizations, and executive summaries of reliability trends using Tableau or other BI tools, ensuring clear visibility and alignment across technical leadership.
- Partner with OEMs (e.g., Airbus, Boeing) and vendors to evaluate technical documentation, review component performance, and elevate key issues impacting long-term fleet reliability.
- Evaluate engine and system trends using tools like engine condition trend monitoring and vendor teardown reports; maintain findings in structured archives for audit readiness.
- Deliver technical recommendations to Engineering for modification programs (e.g., Service Bulletins, Service Letters), task escalations, and proactive maintenance strategies to mitigate operational risks.
- Support cross-functional initiatives with Planning, Engineering, and Maintenance to ensure reliability performance aligns with safety, cost, and operational KPIs.
- Assist with the design and implementation of new alerting and trending frameworks, ensuring visibility into safety-sensitive systems and emerging risk areas.
- Participate in internal audits, FAA reviews, and external benchmarking to continuously improve the program.
- Facilitate and lead a Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) reliability review process.
- Translate reliability insights into actions that improve near-term operational performance and inform long-term maintenance strategy.
