The Manager, IT Field Services is responsible for overseeing all on-site technical support across multiple manufacturing facilities, ensuring reliable operations of network infrastructure, servers, and end‑user systems. This leadership role focuses on managing service providers, coordinating cross‑functional IT initiatives, driving process improvements, and ensuring the stability and security of production‑critical technology environments. The manager provides strategic direction, escalated support guidance, and proactive planning to maintain high service availability and operational excellence.
ESSENTIALPOSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage Service Providers supporting multiple manufacturing sites.
- Oversee maintenance and support of IT infrastructure including firewalls, switches, wireless networks, servers, and backup systems.
- Develop and enforce operational standards, documentation, and preventive maintenance schedules.
- Manage escalations for network connectivity, performance, and access issues, ensuring timely resolution.
- Coordinate and manage technology deployments, upgrades, and site‑readiness projects.
- Ensure disaster recovery readiness including oversight of backups, UPS systems, and failover testing.
- Collaborate with internal and external providers to align support efforts and minimize downtime.
- Provide on-site support and maintenance for IT infrastructure including firewalls, switches, wireless networks, servers, and backup systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network, connectivity, performance, and access issues.
- Support and maintain end-user systems—desktops, printers, mobile devices, and production floor PCs.
- Monitor ISP connections, bandwidth utilization, SD‑WAN performance, and implement optimization strategies.
- Develop and maintain asset management, inventory controls, and lifecycle planning for hardware and systems.
- Prepare and present regular operational reports, risk assessments, and improvement recommendations to IT leadership.
- Strong understanding of network technologies (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, VPNs).
- Hands‑on experience with firewalls (Fortinet, Sonic Wall, or similar) and switches (Fortinet, Cisco, etc.).
- Proficiency with Windows Server, Active Directory, and Microsoft 365 services.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity best‑practices, endpoint protection, and vulnerability management.
- Experience managing backup solutions, system imaging, and disaster recovery processes.
- Excellent leadership, communication, vendor‑management, and documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders locally across geographically distributed sites (up to 50% travel), as well as Corporate IT.
- Experience with SD‑WAN or hybrid network architectures.
- Familiarity with IT asset management and monitoring tools (Auvik or similar).
- Background in manufacturing or multi‑site operational environments.
- Experience developing operational procedures and KPIs.
- BA/BS degree (or equivalent preferred) in Computer Science
- 5–8 years of progressive experience in IT support, field service, or network administration, including leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
- Proven ability to work with all levels of management and foster relationships with financial and operations personnel.
- Must be able to work independently, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and organize workload to meet organizational timelines in a fast paced and high growth environment.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to access and navigate the production facility.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at a time.
