Overview

The Clark County Department of Aviation is seeking a detail-oriented and technically skilled Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Technician I/II to join our team in supporting the planning and operational needs of our airports. This role plays a vital part in maintaining accurate spatial data and providing mapping solutions that inform decision-making across the airports. This position's primary responsibility will be supporting utility mapping by maintaining and updating utility features using the ESRI Utility Network model.

This position will also interpret construction drawings to update base drawings and ensure those changes are accurately reflected in a centralized GIS. Additionally, this role will collaborate with various airport divisions to create customized maps and spatial products tailored to their unique operational and planning requirements.

Geographic Information Systems Technician I: $26.00 - $38.46 Hourly
Geographic Information Systems Technician II: $28.15 - $41.52 Hourly

The Geographic Information Systems Technician I is a training underfill position; upon successful completion of the training program the successful candidate will be non-competitively promoted to Geographic Information Systems Technician II.

This examination will establish an Open Competitive Eligibility list to fill current and/or future vacancies that may occur within the next six (6) months or may be extended as needed by Employee Services.

Geographic Information Systems Technician I - Equivalent to completion of an Associate's Degree OR technical school with major course work in drafting, pre-engineering, computer science or geographic studies or a closely related field. Full-time experience in digitizing data or working with geographic information system data may be substituted for the education on a year for year basis.

Geographic Information Systems Technician II - In addition to the above:
Minimum of one (1) year of full-time technical experience in entering data and producing finished documents using a geographic information system.

Some positions may require a valid Nevada Class C driver's license at time of appointment.

Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.

Residency Requirement: Permanent employees must maintain a principal place of residency within the boundaries of Clark County and provide proof of compliance with Nevada motor vehicle registration and drivers' license laws within 90 days of employment.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Please note, Clark County does not provide H1B visa sponsor ships or transfers for any employment positions.

Background Check: Employment with the Department of Aviation is contingent upon completion of an education/experience background investigation, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check processed by the FBI, and upon the ability to be granted a security badge as mandated by the Transportation Security Administration.
