The city of Las Vegas is accepting applications for Sr. Technical Systems Analyst. This position plans, administers, coordinates and oversees specialized information systems within the assigned department, division or work unit; analyzes existing business processes and systems to identify process and reporting issues and improvements; and performs a variety of technical tasks relative to the assigned area of responsibility.
This position is fully on-site. Remote or hybrid work is not available.

The most competitive candidates will have strong experience analyzing, supporting, and enhancing complex technical systems, including enterprise database environments and cloud-based technologies. Candidates should possess demonstrated proficiency in scripting and automation using tools such as Power Shell, or Python to support system integration, reporting, and process improvement initiatives. Experience developing and maintaining SQL Server Reporting Services reports and Power BI dashboards is highly desirable to support operational and data‑driven decision‑making.

A civil service examination will be conducted in accordance with the Civil Service Rules of the city of Las Vegas. The supplemental questions are the examination. Falsification of information may result in disqualification from a recruitment or removal from a City position. Additional information will not be accepted after the closing date. The supplemental questions are weighted 100% for placement on an eligible list, and must be worked on individually by the applicant only.

You must score 70% or higher on the examination to be placed on the eligible list.

Final candidate selection will include list placement and may include hiring interview (if applicable). Any individual offered employment will be required to pass a pre‑employment drug test, complete background check, education and experience verification, and may be required to demonstrate the ability to perform the physical requirements of the job. Some positions may require preliminary background checks.
Final interviews will be conducted locally and in-person.

This is the advanced journey level in the Technical Systems Analyst series. Positions at this level are distinguished from other classes in this series by the level of responsibility assumed, the complexity of duties assigned, and the level of independence expected. Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties assigned to classes in this series. Employees at this level are required to be fully trained in all procedures related to assigned area of responsibility.

Receives direction from higher level management staff. May act as a lead worker, exercising functional or technical supervision, including scheduling and assigning tasks, providing guidance, ensuring work is completed according to proper procedure, monitoring work progress and reviewing results.
