Position: Adult Career Advisor - $25.00 Per Hour

Responsibilities
  • Counsels and assists program customers regarding job search strategies, personal career advisement and training issues, identifying and addressing barriers to employment, professional goal setting and planning. Identifies outside resources, programs and other services for customers as needed.
  • Advises, monitors, and tracks participation to maximize the functions and opportunities of the program.
  • Manages day-to-day relationships with customers, addresses concerns promptly with an action plan to ensure satisfaction, and documents findings with clear, concise, and timely case notes.
  • Maintains knowledge of a broad range of occupations/career paths for effective placement, processing, and assessment of customers and determining the most appropriate services for their career goals.
  • Provides motivational support to customers during the job search process.
  • Identifies training needs and ensures appropriate training is provided.
  • Facilitates job readiness and job search workshops.
  • Demonstrates strategies for re-engaging customers after training and after employment.
  • Uses the Case Management Model guidelines to support participants needs.
  • Documents customer success stories internally and externally.
  • Analyzes and critiques resumes and required documentation for effective processing of customer eligibility.
  • Maintains accurate and complete records and correspondence as required by the Program Director and standards set by the program.
  • Creates and maintains policies and procedures for Career Advisement and assists in training team members on these guidelines.
  • Works under the direction of the Career Advisor Coordinator to facilitate timely completion of tasks and support daily operations and special projects.
  • Produces word processing documents, including charts and tables; proofreads and edits correspondence, memoranda, proposals, reports, and other documents; maintains filing systems and performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education/Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in psychology, marketing, business, human resources or related field with two or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with career counseling consumers in a high-volume environment, particularly in a human services or workforce development setting.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication and organization skills, computer skills, publishing skills, and ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Ability to relate well with individuals, motivate others, and present workshops for those with employment barriers.
  • Referral network with other human service agencies and ability to provide intervention services as needed.
  • Knowledge of various job search strategies, resources and action plans.
  • Ability to follow instructions well; adaptable, flexible, and fast learner.
  • Creative and able to meet deadlines; works well under pressure and in a team environment; demonstrated customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated computer skills with experience using word processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Familiarity with the communities served and knowledge of local needs and resources.
  • Ability to work first shift and overtime if required; travel within Clark County as needed.

  • Pay rate: $25.00 per hour.
