Job Details
The Human Resources Specialist entails duties strongly emphasized with Leave and Absence Management. In addition, will be responsible for carrying out the day-to-day responsibilities in various areas of excellence within the HR department including but not limited to administrative tasks related to the smooth operation of an HR department, talent acquisition, onboarding, employee relations, and benefits. This position will work in-office in a corporate setting supporting a casino, hospitality and restaurant business.
DailyHR Related Functions
- Support the organization by maximizing the company HRIS with transactions and data management.
- Manage maintenance and accuracy of employee data, for reporting and distribution.
- Ensure unit companies are in compliance with professional standards, state and federal regulatory requirements related to recordkeeping and reporting.
- Audit and confirm all data entered, maintain data in HRIS systems and other HR supporting databases.
- Perform updates, exports, imports, clean-ups, and research/reports on any data discrepancies from the unit companies.
- Deliver routine daily/weekly/monthly reporting and respond to basic to intermediate ad hoc data requests.
- Conduct data analysis on HR data such as compensation, classification, employment, and other data as requested.
- Provide assistance and support to others on laborious assignments and/or problems as directed.
- Respond verbally or in writing to inquiries, providing information requiring comprehensive knowledge of Affinity’s policies and procedures.
- Respond to technical administrative questions and ensure necessary follow up.
- Provide appropriate training on HR transactions to users when requested or deemed necessary.
- Participate in various Corporate HR annual initiatives as required on a project basis.
- Participate with Corporate HR staff in developing policies and procedures.
- Support the HR Management team with special projects and process improvements.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Strongly support HR initiatives related to Wellness, Absence Management and Leaves.
- Support the maintenance of the company Absence Management and Leave system.
- Responds and maintains flow of requests for Leave and ADA/ADAA.
- Coordinate with Payroll and Benefits department to ensure employee benefit premiums are collected.
- Maintain leave status in the HRIS system and partner with Payroll to ensure accurate leave pay codes are utilized and other appropriate system updates.
- Act as additional support to the unit companies with Absence Management, Leave and ADA/ADAA.
- Navigate and support ATS (Applicant Tracking System) transactions to unit companies to maximize the use of the system.
- Work with various users on problem solving any issues with functions and providing appropriate training as required.
- Support Recruiting teams by posting available positions in various 3rd parties, review applicants and send to hiring managers.
- Process new hires to include gaming registration and update monthly gaming data.
- Must be knowledgeable of all Company policies and procedures, including fire and safety regulations.
- Knowledge of federal and state leave laws, including FMLA, CFRA, PDLL, ADA, etc. (including eligibility and entitlements)
* California knowledge desired. - Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Strong professional communication (verbal and written) with employees at all levels.
- Ability to handle sensitive employee information with discretion.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook);
Experience with HRIS and leave management systems (e.g., UGK, BASIC, Sedgwick, Kronos). - Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. High volume restaurant experience preferred.
- Bilingual in English/Spanish is required
