Reports to the Senior Director of Operations and the Medical Director of Imaging Services. This position plans and implements overall diagnostic imaging policies, procedures, and coordinates the overall strategic planning of the daily activities of the Diagnostic Imaging Services Department. These departmental services include diagnostic PET, CT, Ultrasound, and Nuclear Medicine across different locations. The Imaging Director will ensure that all relevant Federal, State, Accreditation, Radiological and Safety guidelines are implemented and always followed.

Requirements

Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or GED completion is required.
  • Current Certification (AART) with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred in Radiologic Services; completion of course in radiologic technology approved by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Master’s degree preferred, in Radiology, Business or Healthcare Administration.
  • Preferred 5 years of Radiology Director leadership experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Radiology standards and practice.
Job Knowledge
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, techniques of radiology to direct and back up the activities of staff.
  • Knowledge of radiology standards to monitor and evaluate work of technologists.
  • Knowledge of anatomy and physiology sufficient to pinpoint area for radiography.
  • Knowledge of radiology equipment and testing to determine needs and evaluate equipment for purchase.
  • Knowledge of safety requirements to provide instructions and to recognize and correct hazardous conditions.
  • Skills in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations, identifying, and resolving problems.
  • Skill in writing reports and preparing correspondence.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining department quality assurance.
  • Skill in providing guidance and instruction to technologists.
  • Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public.
  • Ability to evaluate utilization statistics and other data and make program recommendations.
  • Ability to determine budget needs and maintain expenditures within budget.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and establish/maintain effective working relationships with staff.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Skills Required

  • Assures timely billing and appropriate coding of billed procedures.

  • Perform routine equipment care and maintenance and inventory evaluation.
  • Maintain current American Heart BLS certification.
  • Demonstrate computer skills appropriate for the position.
  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrate appropriate social, customer service, and service recovery skills.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking and ability to work with minimal supervision to analyze complex situations and apply policy.
  • Demonstrate teamwork skills.
  • Follow HIPAA and privacy policies to maintain the privacy and security of patient information.
  • Demonstrate ability to follow direction.
  • Respond to patients’ procedural-related inquiries by providing appropriate education utilizing imaging center specific protocols.
  • Adhere to imaging center policies related to quality assurance.
  • Review and evaluate imaging studies and provide appropriate feedback to staff.
  • Comply with professional standards of conduct.
  • Assist the medical director and/or manager in all aspects of imaging center operations.
  • Meets and exceeds short- and long-term goals as established for the department.
