Psychological Assistant / Staff Psychologist / Senior Staff Psychologist – UNLV Student Wellness – Student Counseling and Psychology [R0149759]

Job Description

The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for the position of Psychological Assistant, Staff Psychologist, or Senior Staff Psychologist within the Student Wellness unit. The Student Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) center is an IACS‑Accredited division that serves a diverse student population through individual, couples, and group therapy, crisis assessment and intervention, consultation, outreach programming, supervision of doctoral interns and graduate trainees, and participation on divisional and university committees.

We seek candidates who are able to work effectively with people from varied identity backgrounds—including race, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ability status. CAPS offers an APA‑accredited Doctoral Psychology Internship Program and a practicum training program for professional growth.

Responsibilities

General responsibilities include, but are not limited to, time‑effective individual, couples, and group therapy; crisis assessment and intervention; consultation and outreach programming to the university community; supervision of doctoral interns and graduate trainees; and participation on divisional and university committees.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Psychological Assistant: Doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology; demonstrated generalist counseling experience; must attain licensure as a Psychologist in Nevada within 14 months of hire (post‑doctoral) or 24 months (new doctoral graduate).
  • Staff Psychologist: Doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology; demonstrated generalist counseling experience; independent practice licensure in Nevada required prior to employment.
  • Senior Staff Psychologist: Doctoral degree in Counseling or Clinical Psychology; demonstrated generalist counseling experience; independent practice licensure in Nevada required prior to employment; minimum 5 years licensed clinical work experience as a psychologist.

Successful candidates will have strong clinical assessment and crisis intervention skills, experience in supervision and training, and proficiency in brief therapy and group counseling. Preference is given to those with university counseling center experience, an APA‑accredited graduate program, and an APA‑accredited internship program. All candidates must pass a background screening. Occasional evening and weekend activities are required.

Salary Range

Salary is competitive with similarly situated institutions, commensurate with experience. Minimum salaries:
Psychological Assistant $81,000;
Staff Psychologist $105,253;
Senior Staff Psychologist $120,000.
