Spring Mountain Treatment Center is currently seeking a dynamic professional to join our team as a PRN Activity Aide. Activity Aide's are primarily responsible for general recreation activities with direction/assistance from the Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist. They implement Activity Therapy groups under supervision of CTRS, assist with Activity Therapy outings that may lead recreational outings, maintain decorations and bulletin boards on the unit, administer Activity Therapy assessment and interpret to write ITPs under supervision of CTRS.
Knowledge of treatment programs, leisure education, social skill development, arts, and sports is needed. They present good communication and observation skills as well as the ability to accurately process and document information.
- Plans and directs recreational activities, structured division, or outings with direction of the Activity Therapist CTRS, Directory Activity Therapy and Program Director.
- Requests supplies/equipment/maintenance in a planful manner.
- Uses variety and creativity in planning outside events.
- Assists in the provision of groups and monitors behavior during group.
- Performs ITP measures for Activity Therapy.
- Implements provision of creative expression, teambuilding, physical education/fitness, social skill development, leisure education, self-esteem building, anger management/replacement, and family recreation and community reintegration activities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelors degree required. Experience assisting with recreation activities, or focus groups.
- Minimum of one year experience working in a psychiatric facility.
- Knowledge and experience in arts, sports, and general recreation activities. Ability to modify activity according to client participation and/or disability.
- Knowledge and experience with behavior management procedures. Understand and honor the established hospital rules, regulations, and Policy & Procedures.
