Comprehensive Cancer Centers of Nevada has an exciting opportunity for a Social Worker BSW or MSW in Las Vegas, Nevada. In this role, you will work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume oncology practice with some of the best physicians in their fields while providing care to patients in a successful health‑care organization.
SCOPEProvides counseling and supportive services to patients requiring emotional and psychosocial assistance. Provides knowledge of agencies and organizations offering emotional, physical, social, and financial services to patients and families. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.
Responsibilities- Meets with patients and their families for psychosocial needs assessment and examines social support, appropriate community resources, and coping mechanisms.
- Documents all communication accurately and appropriately.
- Provides psychological support to patients and families.
- Provides follow‑up counseling on an ongoing basis. Acts as a patient/family advocate in negotiating the health‑care system.
- Develops and maintains support groups to enhance the quality of care to patients and their families.
- Provides information to patients and families regarding resources both in local communities and those geographically distant, i.e. those patients contemplating procedures in other cities, BMT, etc.
- Facilitates team support of identified patient and family needs through ongoing communication with clinic team members.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in social work from an accredited university.
- Minimum three to five years experience as a licensed social worker, oncology experience preferred.
- Appropriate state licensure required.
