With one in 36 children diagnosed with autism, this entry-level job is in big demand. As a Behavior Technician, you’ll help children with autism learn, grow, and build communication, socialization, and self-help skills through play-based therapy known as applied behavior analysis (ABA). - Assist in designing and implementing ABA therapy sessions for children ages 2-7 with autism and special needs.
- Apply behavior-based techniques to promote skill acquisition and reduce challenging behaviors.
- Document progress, collect data, and support the development of treatment plans.
- A genuine desire to help children with autism and their families reach their goals.
- A steady supply of compassion, empathy, enthusiasm, kindness, goodwill, and reliability.
- A willingness to learn about autism, learning differences, and ABA.
- High school diploma or higher.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Schedule flexibility:
Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm or other specified shifts. - Minimum age 18 on the first day of employment.
- Eligibility to work in the United States.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Optional advantages:
- Bilingual in English/Spanish.
- Studied, majored, or minored in psychology, education, special education, childcare, behavioral health, health science, or related field.
- Experience working with children (babysitting, tutoring, teaching, coaching, camp counseling).
- Interest in supporting a career in behavior analysis and related disciplines.
- Starting pay $18+ depending on experience.
- Earn up to 15 days paid time off after 90 days of full-time employment.
- Part-time employees eligible for sick leave.
- Become eligible to earn RBT certification.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 35 pounds and move quickly as needed.
- Must be able to sit on the floor, stoop, stand, walk, and run.
