We are seeking Per-Diem night shift Mental Health Technicians to provide in-patient care to adolescent and adult patients who are undergoing psychiatric care.

MHT Responsibilities:- Patient Care & Observation:
Conduct and document 5 or 15-minute safety checks. - Monitor patients for changes in behavior, mood, appearance, and safety.
- Promptly report unsafe behaviors, escalation, or medical concerns to nursing staff
- Minimal assist with ADLs (bathing, grooming, toileting, meals) as appropriate.
- Ensure patients maintain appropriate hygiene, clothing, and room cleanliness.
- Use trauma-informed communication and de-escalation techniques.
- Participate in milieu management, creating a safe, structured environment.
- Redirect inappropriate behavior and reinforce positive coping skills.
- Lead or assist with groups and recreational activities.
- Assist in transport of patients to groups and meals throughout the hospital.
- Respond immediately to codes or behavioral emergencies.
- Assist in safe physical intervention or holds as trained (Handle with Care).
- Conduct room searches, contraband checks, and ensure unit safety compliance.
- Monitor for elopement risk, self-harm behaviors, or aggression.
- Obtain and record vital signs as assigned.
- Gather and log patient belongings, complete body checks, and update inventories.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Coursework in behavioral sciences preferred
- Experience in a psychiatric hospital or residential treatment center preferred
- Current and timely renewal of CPR certification for healthcare professionals
- Annual professional Handle with Care certification – training and certification provided by Thrive Behavioral Hospital
- Must work a minimum of four (4) 12-hour shifts per month
