Job Summary and Qualifications

The staff occupational therapist is responsible for the evaluation, assessment and treatment of a wide variety of patients, including those with neurological, orthopedic, cardiac and other medical conditions in acute, sub‑acute, rehabilitation and outpatient occupational therapy settings. The therapist supervises occupational therapy assistants and rehab technicians, evaluates and treats patients in accordance with facility rules, the Occupational Therapy Practice Act, and the State of Nevada.

The role requires knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and the ability to assess and interpret data reflective of patients’ medical status and age‑specific needs to provide appropriate care for pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric populations.

What you will do in this role
  • Provide evaluations and treatment interventions within the scope of practice established by law and professional code of ethics.
  • Assess and evaluate therapeutic, rehabilitative and functional status; participate in patient placement and total plan of care development.
  • Provide purposeful and skilled interaction care; use procedures and techniques to produce a change in condition/function consistent with the physician’s plan of care.
  • Observe and report patient reaction to treatment and changes in condition.
  • Communicate pertinent payer needs/requirements to physician, treatment team, patient and family in a timely manner.
  • Prioritize caseload, determine daily staffing needs and coordinate assignments and handoffs.
Qualifications you will need
  • Bachelor of Science or advanced degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • One to two years of experience in a hospital setting preferred; entry‑level graduates will be considered.
  • License from the State of Nevada.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
