Medical Billing Specialist - Accounts Receivable (A/R) (Eligibility, Authorizations, Interventional Radiology & IMRT)

This is an opportunity to join a growing and well-respected practice. Las Vegas Urology is currently seeking a detail-oriented, patient-focused Medical Billing Specialist with strong A/R, eligibility, and authorization experience, including support for Interventional Radiology and IMRT services. Our billing team supports multiple clinics across the Las Vegas Valley and works collaboratively to ensure accurate reimbursement and timely resolution of claims.

Summary of Position:

This role is responsible for managing accounts receivable, insurance eligibility verification, prior authorizations, and follow-up for complex services, including Interventional Radiology and IMRT. The position focuses on denial prevention, payer compliance, underpayment recovery, and timely resolution of outstanding balances.

Job Duties:

Accounts Receivable & Insurance Follow-Up
  • Review and work assigned EOBs to identify denied, underpaid, or incorrectly processed claims
  • Perform insurance follow-up via phone, portal, fax, and written correspondence
  • Research claim issues, submit appeals, and pursue underpayments
  • Work daily correspondence and monthly A/R reports provided by billing management
  • Prepare accounts for patient follow-up or submission to outside collections
  • Document all follow-up actions and payer communications accurately
Eligibility & Authorizations
  • Verify insurance eligibility, benefits, and coverage requirements prior to services
  • Obtain, track, and maintain prior authorizations, including high-cost and multi-session services
  • Ensure authorizations align with CPT/ICD-10 codes and payer guidelines
  • Communicate authorization requirements and issues with clinical staff and leadership
  • Address authorization-related denials and resubmit claims as appropriate
Interventional Radiology & IMRT Support
  • Manage billing and A/R follow-up for Interventional Radiology and IMRT services, including complex payer rules
  • Follow up on technical and professional component billing as applicable
  • Resolve denials related to medical necessity, authorization, or documentation requirements
Additional Responsibilities
  • Review and import charge batches from EHR to PM system; ensure accuracy
  • Reconcile charge batches with appointment schedules and front‑desk payments
  • Monitor undi­ctated encounters and report to physicians and management
  • Enter lab charges and maintain supporting documentation
  • Process upfront credit card payments as needed
  • Respond to inquiries from patients, front office staff, and insurance companies
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations
  • Perform duties in accordance with Las Vegas Urology’s Employee Handbook
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 1‑3 years of experience in medical billing, with emphasis on A/R, eligibility, and authorizations
  • Experience with Interventional Radiology and/or IMRT billing strongly preferred
Performance Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of medical billing, A/R workflows, and insurance collections
  • Familiarity with CPT and ICD‑10 coding
  • Ability to interpret EOBs, authorization requirements, and payer policies
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and billing systems
  • Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Professional communication skills with patients, staff, and insurance carriers
Physical Demands

Office‑based position requiring prolonged sitting, frequent computer and phone use, and the ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume environment. Occasional bending, lifting, and stretching may be required.
