Position OverviewThe Assistant Controller / Assistant Director of Finance supervises and coordinates the accounting operations to ensure accurate, timely and consistent reporting in accordance with GAAP and applicable laws. The role supports the Controller, manages payroll, accounts receivable/payable, journals, cashiering, taxes and internal controls, and may recommend operational improvements.
Responsibilities- Supervise payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cashier and night audit employees; hire, train, empower, schedule, coach, counsel and conduct performance reviews.
- Ensure compliance with SOPs, GAAP and all federal, state, and local regulations for daily accounting operations.
- Analyze and reconcile general ledger accounts and bank statements to maintain accurate financial information.
- Prepare financial statements and reports for management.
- Assist in compiling the annual budget, forecasts, taxes and other financial reports.
- Train, monitor and coordinate implementation of financial and cash controls across departments to ensure compliance and minimize liabilities.
- Resolve accounting system problems and maintain equipment for smooth operation.
- Analyze tenant and lease data to ensure compliance with hotel leases and management contracts.
- Assume the Controller’s responsibilities in their absence.
- 2 – 4 years of hotel accounting experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting, finance and hospitality functions performed under the Hotel Controller.
- Advanced mastery of accounting and finance principles and experience managing people and complex problems.
- Ability to analyze data and apply original interpretation to reach logical conclusions.
- Competence to make decisions guided by established policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills and supervisory ability.
Salary Range: $95,000.00 / yr
