Handling multi‑state sales/use tax recovery projects for large, sophisticated organizations requires more than a technical understanding of current sales and use tax rules. As a Sales and Use Tax Manager, assigned to EY’s Sales and Use Tax Lookback Review Center of Excellence (COE), you’ll build and apply knowledge on a wide range of sales and use tax recovery projects for clients across multiple industries.

• Lead and manage multi‑state sales and use tax recovery projects for EY’s largest clients.
• Provide timely tax advice to clients and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with colleagues in a highly collaborative culture.
• Manage diverse array of projects, responsibilities and tasks.

• Researching clients’ business operations and building long‑lasting relationships.
• Identifying applicable sales and use tax exemptions and exclusions.
• Identifying potential over payment opportunities or risks and communicating these to clients.
• Monitoring current tax law changes to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor.
• Developing clear, intelligent plans and approaches for sales and use tax recoveries.
• Preparing and defending sales and use tax refund claims.
• Participating on a motivated team of professionals.
• Managing a motivated team of professionals, guaranteeing they have the skills, knowledge and opportunities to reach their full potential.

• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline.
• Professional knowledge in a broad range of sales and use tax processes, concepts and tools.
• Experience managing budgets, people and projects.
• A proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization.
• Technical writing and research experience in a tax context.
• The ability to prioritize when working on multiple complex projects.
• Strong influencing skills, and the confidence to question existing processes.
• Willingness to travel as needed, and working in a balanced hybrid environment.

• An achieved CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, CMI designation, or be a member of a state bar.

• We offer a comprehensive compensation and benefits package. The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $105,100 to $192,600. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $126,100 to $218,900. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.
