Position Overview
Soft Count Specialist responsibilities revolve around conducting soft count procedures to count and verify currency, coins, and chips collected from slot machines, table games, and other gaming activities. Meticulous attention to detail, strong mathematical skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality are essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform soft count procedures to tally and verify cash and chips from gaming tables, slot machines, and other designated collection points within the casino premises.
- Utilize advanced counting equipment and tools to accurately count currency notes, coins, and gaming chips, ensuring precision and reliability.
- Verify counts to detect discrepancies, errors, or irregularities and promptly report them to appropriate personnel.
- Maintain detailed records of soft count results, documenting the amount of cash, coins, and chips counted for each gaming area.
- Follow strict security protocols to safeguard counted cash and chips, maintaining confidentiality and adhering to gaming regulations and internal controls.
- Collaborate with other members of the soft‑count team to achieve daily counting goals and ensure smooth operations.
- Prepare and submit comprehensive reports summarizing soft count results for management.
- Assist in preparing and moving funds to the appropriate departments or financial institutions, as required.
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of counting equipment to guarantee accurate results.
- Implement quality‑control measures to detect potential counting errors and suggest improvements.
- Temporary or permanent duties may be added or modified as necessary.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Willingness and ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced, busy, and sometimes stressful environment.
- Must have the healthy mind and body to handle the job's physical demands.
This position does not include supervisory responsibilities.
