About

The Role

The Art Director is responsible for defining and leading the artistic vision and visual direction for games developed within the studio. This role will shape not only the look and feel of the games, but also the art culture, standards, and production practices that support long-term creative and commercial success. The Art Director partners closely with Game Design, Production, and cross‑functional stakeholders to ensure that visual execution elevates gameplay, aligns with product strategy, and is delivered with consistency, quality, and efficiency.

This role blends hands‑on creative leadership with team development, production oversight, and studio‑level contribution.

What You’ll Do
  • Managing and providing leadership for a team of Artists & Animators for the creation of assets for gaming products.
  • Working with the Game Designer & other stakeholders to ensure that the game’s visual concept aligns with the product strategy and that the art package supports the context of the gameplay & game functionality.
  • Working with the art team to define and supervise the game’s visual direction and internal development standards.
  • Maintaining an art production pipeline, process and workflow that ensures the art direction adds considerable value to the finished product.
  • Ensuring the timely and reliable delivery of all art assets within schedule and budget considerations.

  • Games ship with a clear, cohesive, and high‑quality visual identity that enhances gameplay and player engagement.
  • The art team operates with strong alignment, clear standards, and an efficient, scalable production pipeline.
  • Artists and Animators are supported, challenged, and growing in their craft and professional development.
  • Cross‑functional partners experience strong collaboration, clarity, and consistency in visual execution.
  • Art deliverables are predictable, production‑ready, and contribute measurable value to the finished product.
What You Bring
  • Degree in Graphic Design, Animation or equivalent work experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience in a related field. Gaming industry experience required.
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • After Effects and Spine experience is a plus.
  • Experience in proactively developing a team of artists, including mentoring, suggesting educational opportunities, and generally advocating professional development.
  • Understand how to design art for various themes and platforms.
  • Experience working in deadline‑driven, cross‑functional development environments.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to guide creative teams effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate creative vision into practical, production‑ready execution.
Nice to Haves
  • Experience with After Effects and Spine.
  • Previous experience helping to establish or scale art teams, pipelines, or studio standards.
  • Experience working within newly formed studios or fast‑growing development teams.
