The Manager, Assurance Services – Gaming will oversee audits for commercial and tribal casinos, state lotteries, and online gaming platforms, ensuring timely, high‑quality engagements for prominent names in the gaming industry. This role combines technical accounting expertise with industry knowledge to deliver actionable insights, strengthen client relationships, mentor staff, and identify opportunities to improve operational and financial performance.
Major Responsibilities- Plan, manage, and oversee assurance and agreed‑upon procedures engagements for gaming clients, including commercial and tribal casinos, state lotteries, and online gaming platforms, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in compliance with professional and regulatory standards (e.g., Nevada Gaming Control Board).
- Advise clients on complex gaming industry issues such as gaming revenue recognition, jackpot liability accounting, loyalty program accounting, promotional allowances, business combinations, stock compensation, and other emerging gaming‑specific financial reporting matters.
- Assess clients’ controls over cage operations, player wallets, slot and table game revenue cycles, player tracking systems, and IT security related to gaming systems, recommending improvements to reduce risk and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Examine work papers, financial statements, and disclosures for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with U.S. GAAP, gaming regulatory requirements, and Rubin Brown’s quality expectations.
- Develop engagement budgets, monitor progress, and ensure teams meet productivity, compliance, and quality benchmarks while maintaining profitability.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client leadership, delivering actionable insights that improve operational decision‑making, compliance readiness, and long‑term strategic planning.
- Train and coach team members in both technical audit skills and gaming industry best practices, promoting professional growth and industry expertise.
- Identify opportunities for cross‑service collaboration (e.g., tax consulting, cybersecurity, transaction advisory) and assist in expanding the firm’s client base and market presence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
- Active CPA license.
- Minimum five years of progressive public accounting experience, with significant work in the gaming industry (casinos, lotteries, online gaming, or other highly regulated industries).
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and AICPA auditing standards.
- Proficiency in gaming‑specific accounting areas, including gaming revenue recognition, jackpot liability accounting, loyalty program accounting, restricted cash, and promotional allowances.
- Knowledge of gaming operational and financial processes, such as cage operations, slot and table game revenue cycles, player tracking systems, and compliance with state and tribal gaming regulations.
- Proven ability to manage engagement teams, mentor staff, and lead multiple concurrent projects.
- Demonstrated success in building strong client relationships, presenting findings to executives, and providing actionable recommendations that enhance operational efficiency and compliance.
- Ability to identify process inefficiencies and recommend solutions that strengthen internal controls and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex accounting and regulatory issues in clear, business‑focused terms.
