Environmental Superintendent

The Environmental Superintendent leads all environmental and regulatory functions for the Beatty Mining District, ensuring full compliance with environmental laws, permits, and company standards. This role designs and implements comprehensive environmental management programs, advises on project development and future operations, and maintains strong relationships with regulatory agencies, contractors, and community stakeholders. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with strong technical expertise and exceptional communication skills.

• Develop and implement environmental management systems that proactively minimize the environmental impact of open‑pit mining operations.
• Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local environmental regulations, permits, and reporting requirements.
• Maintain accurate environmental records, data, and documentation to meet all legal and company obligations.
• Lead and advance sustainable practices and emerging environmental technologies across site operations.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of the International Cyanide Management Code and lead the site toward compliance at operational start‑up.

• Establish and manage environmental monitoring programs tracking air quality, water quality, wildlife, ecological impacts, and other critical environmental metrics.
• Analyze monitoring results to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Participate in or lead major environmental incident investigations and ensure development and follow‑through of corrective action plans.
• Stay current on regulatory changes and ensure site readiness for upcoming requirements.

• Manage multiple environmental projects simultaneously, ensuring they meet business objectives, timelines, and regulatory standards.
• Prepare and manage budgets, scopes of work, and contractor activities.
• Collaborate with global environmental leaders and internal departments to align standards and best practices.
• Develop and deliver environmental training programs for site personnel as the project transitions into operations.

• Serve as a primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and support inspections, permitting processes, and site visits.
• Communicate environmental performance, emerging risks, and compliance status to senior leadership and cross‑functional teams.
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, external consultants, regulatory officials, and community stakeholders.

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Hydrology, Biology, Ecology, or a related environmental discipline.
• 7–10 years of environmental management experience in the mining industry or a related heavy industrial environment.
• Extensive knowledge of state and federal mining regulations, permitting requirements, and environmental compliance standards.
• Experience developing, managing, and optimizing Environmental Management Systems (EMS).
• Strong regulatory expertise with an emphasis on mining compliance and sustainable operational practices.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking.
• Ability to anticipate issues, identify solutions, and make strategic decisions within regulatory and operational constraints.
• Commitment to environmental conservation and responsible resource management.
• Deep knowledge of NEPA processes and Nevada permitting requirements.
• Experience leading environmental incident investigations and developing corrective action plans.
• Ability to assess, interpret, and apply regulatory statutes and anticipate upcoming changes.
• Strong leadership capabilities with the ability to influence and motivate teams.
• Excellent critical thinking and complex problem‑solving skills.
• High accountability and ownership of environmental responsibilities.
• Ability to build effective working relationships with management, staff, and regulatory agencies.
• Must have the right to work in the United States.
• Valid driver’s license for travel to and from mine sites.
