Job Description
WSP is currently initiating a search for a Transmission Line Inspector in Nevada. This field‑based position will primarily perform transmission line inspections across the state, alternating between field office work and field duties such as inspecting transmission lines, substations, and telecommunications sites.
OpportunityProvide high‑voltage (HV) and extra‑high‑voltage (EHV) transmission line inspection support to engineers and project managers, ensuring compliance with approved plans, specifications, utility standards, contract documents, and regulatory requirements (including NESC, OSHA, NERC, and utility construction standards). Responsibilities include performing field inspections of overhead and underground projects, generating accurate inspection reports, daily logs, non‑conformance documentation, and photo records, and ensuring all activities meet or exceed industry safety and quality standards.

- Follow established inspection and QA/QC practices to provide technical assistance and guidance on construction, installation, and operation of transmission lines, foundations, structures, access roads, and related systems.
- Act as a field inspection consultant regarding work progress, constructability, and issue resolution; serve as the primary or sole inspector on assigned projects or assist in overseeing HV/EHV construction inspection activities.
- Verify load calculations, foundation designs, material quantities, change orders, and contract pay items; interpret and resolve differences related to plans, profiles, structure details, and specifications.
- Monitor project phasing, outage coordination, and contractor work activities to ensure quality control, safety compliance, and adherence to utility and contract requirements; document daily activities, deficiencies, corrective actions, and issues.
- Work with cross‑functional teams to execute project work.
- Attend pre‑construction, safety, and coordination meetings; respond to technical questions regarding inspection requirements and construction standards.
- Prepare technical inspection reports summarizing findings and conclusions, producing complete documentation using photographs, sketches, field measurements, calculations, inspection software, spreadsheets, and drawings.
- Support technical staff, project managers, and contractors with risk identification, safety observations, and constructability assessments, providing input for mitigation and resolution of complex issues.
- Assist with work plan development, field coordination, staffing reviews, equipment utilization, and time and cost estimates for inspection and construction support activities.
- Coordinate with clients, utilities, and contractors to schedule and manage inspection activities across multiple work fronts.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma.
- Minimum of 9 years of post‑education experience in a related discipline with demonstrated construction inspection experience on electric utility, power delivery, or transmission line projects.
- 5+ years of active field experience, computer skills for daily and weekly reports, and photo documentation capability with Word and Excel.
- Well‑defined knowledge of construction inspection principles and field inspection practices for HV/EHV transmission lines.
- Strong analytical and technical judgment skills for evaluating safety, quality, and compliance risks.
- Travel as required based on project location.
- Knowledge of transmission line foundations, conductor stringing, substations, and facilities is strongly preferred.
- Self‑leadership and field autonomy with strong attention to detail, documentation quality, multitasking, and prioritization.
- Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills to recommend practical, economical, and code‑compliant solutions.
