Overview
Basic Purpose
Assists the Land Department by performing some of the following tasks including boundary records research, land descriptions and exhibits, topographic and as-built maps, and right-of-way and easement maps under the direction of a licensed land surveyor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Processes and interpret field survey data and apply technical expertise and boundary law principals to create land descriptions and exhibit maps.
- Formats survey data into spread sheets, maps and computer aided drafting (CAD) models depending on individual client requirements.
- Performs mathematical calculations to verify validity of field collected data.
- Ensures all compliance aspects of position are known and followed; understands and complies with all policies, codes and regulations applicable to position and company.
- Performs related duties as assigned.
Education and Work Experience
- Actively pursuing EAC/ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree or a Board approved equivalent with a minimum of 4 semesters completed.
- Candidates that are not actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in geomatics must have a minimum of 3 years of related work experience.
Specialized Knowledge And Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of:
- AutoCAD
- Global Positioning System (GPS) software and/or other coordinate geometry computer experience.
- Public Lands Surveying System.
Demonstrated Skills Such As
- Organizational, interpersonal and communication.
- Setup and operate total stations and GPS equipment.
Equipment and Applications
PCs, word processing, spreadsheet and database software. Microsoft Office and Intranet web base research.
Work Environment and Physical DemandsGeneral office environment. Some fieldwork and travel required.
