OverviewWe are seeking a Principal Structural Engineer to provide senior-level engineering leadership supporting complex facility and infrastructure projects at a federal site in North Las Vegas, Nevada. This role will lead multi-discipline coordination, perform advanced structural analysis, and conduct construction document reviews to ensure compliance with DOE and applicable regulatory standards. The position supports ongoing operations and modernization of mission-critical facilities in a highly regulated environment.
Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate structural engineering efforts across multi-discipline project teams
- Conduct construction document and design reviews
- Prepare and review calculations, drawings, and specifications
- Perform seismic and wind analyses
- Perform foundation design, structural framing analysis and design, and bracing analysis and design
- Support planning, design, and construction phases of projects
- Provide technical direction and oversight to engineering staff
- Support renovation and modification of existing facilities
- Utilize Micro Station CAD software for design documentation
- Bachelor of Science in Civil or Structural Engineering and a minimum of 15 years of experience in design, estimating, specification preparation, construction documentation, and construction inspection.
- Working knowledge of Federal (including DOE Orders), State, and Local codes and standards applicable to structural engineering design
- Demonstrated experience leading structural engineering projects
- Experience supporting facility modifications and upgrades
- Familiarity with Micro Station drafting software
- Ability to independently perform advanced structural analysis and engineering reviews
- Nevada Professional Engineer license, or ability to obtain via reciprocity
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen
- Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a drug and breath alcohol test, along with a Motor Vehicle Record check.
- Experience supporting Department of Energy or nuclear facilities
- Experience in regulated government or high-hazard industrial environments
- Prior senior or principal engineering role on infrastructure or capital projects
A 40 hour work week is scheduled. Client utilizes various work schedules including 5/8s (8 hour/day; five days per week), 4/10's (10 hours/day; four days per week), and 9/80's (9 hours/day, five days on week AA and four days on week BB). Work week excludes Client holidays. Each workday has 30-minute lunch. Overtime will be expected at times to meet deliverables and will be utilized at the discretion of the Manager.
