  • The ability to leverage HKA’s strong network and presence in various industries and reputation for exceptional expert witnesses to accelerate career development and connections.
The Opportunity

HKA is seeking a Director‑level Consultant with deep, hands‑on construction experience and strong analytical capabilities to support our Construction Claims & Disputes Consulting practice. In addition to rigorous schedule and delay analysis (Primavera P6), you will lead standard of care evaluations grounded in real‑world construction management, field practices, and project execution. You’ll build and sustain senior client relationships, deliver technically sound analyses, and elevate HKA’s market presence through visible thought leadership.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee and assure quality of schedule analyses (baseline, updates, as‑built) and delay/impact assessments in Primavera P6.
  • Lead standard of care assessments by evaluating construction means and methods, site management, project controls, field decision‑making, and adherence to industry norms and contractual obligations.
  • Direct organization and examination of project records, including field reports, RFIs, submittals, daily logs, change documentation, cost/labor data, and correspondence.
  • Diagnose causation by comparing expected construction practices to actual performance and identifying deviations contributing to defects, delays, or disputes.
  • Lead expert reporting; act as or prepare for expert testimony, including report drafting and dispute‑resolution documentation.
  • Translate technical findings into clear, defensible conclusions for clients, counsel, and tribunals.
  • Ensure methodological rigor, consistency, and clear communication across all deliverables.
  • Lead delivery of multiple complex projects, managing scope, resources, budgets, and efficiency.
  • Identify, elevate, and mitigate project risks; recommend practical technical and managerial solutions.
  • Build and maintain senior‑level relationships; anticipate client needs and resolve complex issues with tact.
  • Mentor and develop teams, foster a feedback culture, and represent HKA through thought leadership and industry engagement.
Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a STEM field.
  • 8+ years in Construction and Consulting, with experience resolving complex projects and managing multiple deliverables.
  • 1+ years drafting expert reports for litigation purposes; expert testimony experience preferred but not required.
  • Strong understanding of construction documentation such as contracts, RFIs, submittals, and schedules.
  • Expertise in forensic scheduling using Primavera P6, including delay and impact analysis.
  • Skilled in advanced Excel for large‑data analysis and client‑ready visuals and reports.
  • Experienced in building senior client relationships and crafting well‑scoped proposals.
What we offer
  • An inclusive and collaborative culture aimed at providing the best opportunities for our people to thrive and develop in their chosen career path.
  • Efficient and insightful recruitment process providing a true reflection of life at HKA.
