Overview
This opportunity provides support to technical staff and project managers for due diligence, investigation, remediation, and environmental permitting projects. Responsibilities include assisting with the analysis, development, and design of processes and infrastructure related to water resources, including water supply, stormwater, irrigation, culverts, hydrology, open channel hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, floodplain modeling/mapping, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, river/stream/habitat restoration, fish passage, pollution control and treatment, and environmental preservation.
Generates accurate documentation regarding field conditions, movement, outcomes, and ecological risks of contaminants. Ensures responsibilities are delivered to quality standards that meet or exceed industry expectations.
- With minimal supervision, assist with collecting, identifying, and compiling environmental data from samples of water, sludge, and other matrices for projects, investigations, and surveys.
- Maintain quality control standards and procedures for accurate and precise measurements and statistical analysis of environmental data.
- Perform basic professional water resources engineering work related to water supply/quality/management, stormwater facilities, irrigation facilities, culverts, hydrology, open channel hydraulics, bridge hydraulics, floodplain modeling/mapping, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling, canal development, river/stream/habitat restoration and fish passage, waste disposal, pollution control and treatment, and environmental preservation of water resources.
- Provide input to ensure planning and management of available water supply is adequately leveraged, treated, improved, and remains safe for recreational, commercial, and/or industrial end uses.
- Assist with verifying site characteristics and provide technical assistance on environmental issues, water cycles, and flow to determine the influence of weather and other environmental forces.
- Write technical reports summarizing research findings and conclusions, generating complete, accurate documentation using electronic systems and software.
- Assist with environmental risk identification and assessment, offering input and analysis for low-level threat mitigation and remediation projects.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in executing project work.
- Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of fieldwork permitting.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.

- Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, with a focus in Water Resources or a closely related discipline.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant post-education experience in water resources engineering.
- Knowledge of water resource engineering principles, practices, processes, design/build, and their application to environmental permitting and project work-related issues.
- Familiarity with concepts of professional water resources engineering related to water supply, quality, management, and treatment for various end uses.
- Strong familiarity with environmental laws, regulations, compliance practices, and record-keeping requirements.
- Familiarity with techniques used in identifying, measuring, sampling, and studying environmental control.
- Analytical mindset with ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with both engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- Self-leadership with attention to detail, accuracy, multi-tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic work environment.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and as part of a team to meet objectives.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, math principles, predictive models, spreadsheets, and related tools.
