Summary
The Avionics & System Engineer is responsible for developing engineering solutions to affect repair, in-service modifications, and improvements for aircraft systems such as avionics, landing gears, hydraulics, bleed systems, etc., of the Allegiant Air aircraft fleet. This role provides technical expertise to Line Maintenance via phone, email, and in person, to ensure on-time fleet operations. Key responsibilities include proactively developing solutions for aircraft systems, reliability initiatives, and managing assigned engineering tasks.

Education Details- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in engineering, engineering sciences, mechanical, aeronautics, or related discipline; OR
- High School Diploma/GED plus FAA Airframe & Powerplant certification and at least five (5) years of airline, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), or military aircraft systems engineering experience; OR
- High School Diploma/GED plus ten (10) years of airline, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), military aircraft systems engineering experience.

Knowledge & Experience- Knowledge of Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Service Bulletins (SB), Airworthiness Directive (AD), Supplemental Type Certificates (STC), FAA Regulation, Components Maintenance Manual (CMM).
- Ability to interpret and apply OEM Wiring and Schematic Diagram Manuals.
- Hands on experience working hydraulics systems, aircraft wiring changes and/or aircraft systems testing procedures such as 14 CFR Part 23 & 91 system testing.
- Strong collaboration skills to work effectively within and outside the Engineering department to meet stakeholder expectations.
- Ability to take ownership and manage projects to completion, including conducting aircraft surveys, identifying, and implementing technical solutions and liaising with Allegiant teams and OEMs.
- Capability to develop engineering standards, troubleshooting instructions, and training materials for repetitive or nonconventional problems to improve operational performance.
- Proficiency with TRAX, Arbortext editing software, and Microsoft Office products.
- Ability and willingness to travel both domestically and internationally to OEM and vendor locations, attend conferences and to support Line Maintenance.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability and willingness to work on the flight line and maintenance shop environments.
- Ability and willingness to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including high visibility clothing, ear protection, and safety glasses when required.
- FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER), ODA Unit Member, Airframe & Powerplant Certificate, Pilot License, FCC License, or EASA B2 – Avionics Engineer License.
- Knowledge of Airbus and Boeing B737 aircraft systems and avionics.
- Familiarity air condition, aircraft software, hydraulics, landing gear, fuel systems, power distribution, and aircraft wiring standards; expertise in at least one of these areas preferred.
- Knowledge of FAA Certification and Airworthiness requirements including MAJOR/MINOR determination, Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) and Ops Specs. Understanding of FAA certification and airworthiness requirements, including major/minor alteration determinations, Supplemental Type Certificates (STC), and Ops Specs.
- Research and provide data to support the development of modifications aimed at improving Allegiant fleet reliability and ensuring compliance with airworthiness regulations.
- Provide oversight and engineering expertise to contracted repair agencies performing heavy maintenance and repairs to aircraft components.
- Develop engineering documents, such as Engineering Orders (EO) and Engineering Repair Orders (ERO), for the accomplishment of aircraft systems repairs and modifications.
