Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking an experienced professional for immediate placement to lead and manage our Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) and Transportation Technology group based in Denver, CO, with opportunities in neighboring Montana, Wyoming, and Idaho. The ITS/Transportation Technology Manager will act as the state technical practice leader, supporting business development, growth, and coordination of emerging technology projects and staff. Responsibilities include building a resilient team, maintaining client relationships, pursuing new projects, expanding local industry presence, and ensuring delivery of high‑quality technical deliverables.
Responsibilities- Create, mentor, and lead a sustainable ITS/Technology business team.
- Develop and expand client relationships in collaboration with state transportation leaders.
- Identify potential projects and work with client managers to develop pursuit strategies.
- Maintain and grow local industry presence by active participation in professional organizations.
- Interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments and manage technical elements of large, complex projects.
- Serve on local ITS/Technology projects as capture manager, project manager, technical lead, expert advisor, or quality control.
- Support production of technical deliverables such as plans, specifications, estimates, reports, and memorandums.
- Support strategic growth through targeted business development, project pursuit, strategy creation, industry engagement, and recruitment.
- Provide technical leadership and coaching to peers and staff.
- Coordinate and balance work assignments with peers in other markets to support work‑life balance.
Minimum Requirements:
- BA/BS + 10 years of relevant experience or equivalent, including 2 years of leadership.
- U.S. citizenship required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering and 15+ years of related experience or equivalent.
- 5+ years of leadership experience.
- Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Colorado.
- Experience managing a team of transportation professionals.
- Established external reputation in Colorado or other mountain state transportation communities.
- Active membership in professional and industry organizations.
- Experience working with or selling to public sector agencies, especially within ITS and emerging technology sectors.
- Knowledge of ITS design, connected/automated vehicle systems, systems engineering, and Transportation Systems Management & Operations (TSMO).
- Experience in proposal development and business development activities.
- Strong team orientation and ability to work in fast‑paced environments with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication, written, verbal, and organizational skills.
- Strong problem‑solving, analytical, and research abilities.
- Ability to balance multiple project responsibilities, budgets, and deadlines while maintaining professionalism and quality.

Offered rate: $145,000 – $185,000 per year, based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
