Job DescriptionPhoenix Technical Solutions is looking for an Engineer to work with their GE Transportation customer. The engineering position is responsible for providing technical support for locomotive traction motor builds. These efforts include maintaining and creating manufacturing instructions, supporting tooling and manufacturing improvements to assure the proper assembly and manufacture of locomotive components.
Responsibilities- Site point of contact for supporting assembly and testing of locomotive traction motors.
- Interface with respective customer departments to ensure compliance with the engineering specifications as outlined by the Design Engineering Team.
- Lead, execute and coordinate manufacturing initiatives with other interdisciplinary teams on cost savings, productivity and reliability projects.
- Work with all applicable departments and suppliers on all stages of the design for manufacturing processes, including Process Failure Mode Analysis, financial impact, and Management of Change Process.
- Work in coordination with the factory and process engineering teams to set project priorities and implementation schedule.
- Manufacturing point of contact for preparing necessary change documentation for component disassembly and assembly processes documentation.
- Support shop floor initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Support technical decisions thru MRB for qualifying non-conforming material for assembly and test.
- Experience with managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Solid interpersonal/communication and leadership abilities.
- Knowledge of technical documentation (Engineering Specifications, SOP’s, etc…)
- Experience/knowledge with general manufacturing processes and business practices.
- Additional experience/knowledge with locomotive systems a plus.
Bachelor of Science in Engineering (preferably Mechanical or Industrial) or equivalent experience in a technical role.
