Location:
Henderson, NV. This role involves coordinating State, County, and local permits for the construction of generation, transmission, substation, communications, and distribution facilities. The adviser represents the Company in public hearings and meetings related to the permitting process and helps prepare, negotiate, and administer transmission master plans, coordinating community involvement open houses for facility siting. The role also plans and initiates the permitting process to ensure timely construction of company facilities.
- Initiate and complete permitting processes for acquiring local and state permits for transmission, communication, and substation facilities to support the Company's mission.
- Determine the need for and coordinate community open houses for routing and siting transmission, communication, and substation facilities.
- Plan long-range routing and siting to meet the Company’s future service requirements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with local and state agencies, including elected and appointed officials, concerning the permitting process in the assigned service area.
- Interface with local government representatives and agencies to integrate the Company’s future electrical needs into local land use plans.
- Develop inter-company relationships to facilitate serving as departmental liaison for projects requiring governmental approval.
- Be knowledgeable of and responsive to local political issues, preferences, and constraints as they relate to planning and permitting of Company facilities.
- Must possess comprehensive knowledge of transmission, substation, communication, and distribution design and construction.
- Extensive knowledge of local and state land use planning and zoning requirements and ordinances.
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and facilitate public meetings and open forums to obtain community support for Company facilities.
- Extensive knowledge of local and state agency requirements and procedures.
- Proven ability to build relationships with elected and appointed governmental officials.
- Ability to address diverse groups in potentially adversarial situations and achieve positive outcomes for the Company.
- A professional designation in land planning through the American Planning Association or equivalent is strongly preferred.
- Preferred:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil Engineering, Business and/or Real Estate with demonstrated ability to effectively communicate.
