Aircraft Mechanic II - APG

Job Summary

The Aircraft Mechanic II - APG will primarily perform all scheduled and unscheduled aircraft and equipment maintenance, both on and off equipment, on assigned aircraft and equipment in accordance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS), M1 policy, DAFI 21-101(and supplements), as well as industry standards.

• Maintains repairs/modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty.
• Maintains and repairs aircraft components including flight controls, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
• Applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and restoring equipment condition and/or operation.
• Applies comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufacturers' manuals.
• Requires working knowledge of technical publications.
• Receives technical guidance from supervisor or higher-level technician and may be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, make entries in aircraft logs and records.
• Must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.

• Minimum of five years’ experience performing APG aircraft maintenance functions in a military environment and attainment of an Air Force 5 level (or equivalent) is required. Experience on F-117A preferred.
• Will perform aircraft and equipment maintenance on other assigned MDS aircraft in a highly "cross‑utilization/trained" environment.
• Maintains qualifications contained on the Special Certification Roster (SCR) as directed.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Working knowledge of principles applying to aircraft systems, concepts and applications of maintenance directives, data reporting, and using technical data is mandatory.
• Knowledge of Air Force supply and efficiency reporting procedures is mandatory.
• Knowledge of proper handling, use, and disposal of hazardous waste and materials is mandatory.
• Must speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Must be able to obtain/maintain the security clearance level as mandated by the government customer.
• Must possess a current valid U.S. Driver's License.
• Must be able to move about both inside aircraft hangars and outside on aircraft ramps within close proximity of running equipment and aircraft.
• Must be reliable, self‑motivated, and able to deal with stressful situations and timelines while maintaining a professional and non‑confrontational attitude.

• Position requires complying with unique commuting/travel requirements.
• Shall assist other personnel and work centers as directed.
• Will work in aircraft hangars and outside on aircraft ramps within close proximity of running equipment and aircraft.
• Must be able to work days, nights, weekends, or overtime shifts as required.
• May work outdoors, sometimes in hot or cold weather.
• May be exposed to contaminants and hazardous conditions, such as when standing on scaffolding or climbing ladders.
• Will be exposed to loud and persistent noise.
• Will be required to utilize Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety toe footwear, safety glasses, etc.
