Overview
Provides engineering design services for substation facilities and ensures that these facilities are constructed on schedule and within committed resource allocations. Applies prescribed methods and standard practices in performing all phases of projects and assists other engineering staff on more complex projects.
Responsibilities- Develop economical, technically feasible, reliable substation physical and control designs; manage multiple substation projects and prioritize work, collaborating with consulting firms and stakeholders (25%).
- Ensure quality control on assigned projects by providing construction support, coordinating with construction forces, and conducting job site inspections (25%).
- Coordinate and communicate with other departments for procurement tasks with moderate supervision (15%).
- Assist and guide other departments in solving non-standard substation design problems (15%).
- Provide accurate cost estimates for company budgeting and identify cash flow requirements (10%).
- Input for project schedules and update project management systems to reflect project status (10%).
- Ensure compliance with all policies, codes, and regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited school.
- 1-3 years of experience with substation design.
- Knowledge of substation/control engineering principles, economic analysis methods, budgeting procedures, and utility engineering practices.
- Skills in oral and written communication and interpersonal interactions. Proficiency with PCs, word processing, spreadsheet, and database software.
