Role of the PositionThe Department of Political Science at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, invites applications for one full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in International Relations. We seek a candidate who specializes in international security, conflict processes, or human rights. The position will commence in fall 2026. Successful candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in International Relations and the undergraduate culminating experience course, guiding students through a research project of their own design.
Ideal candidates will contribute to the department’s course offerings in political methodology at either the undergraduate or graduate level. Other responsibilities include engaging in research leading to scholarly, peer-reviewed publications; mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; and providing service at the department, college, and university levels. There is potential to obtain research funding. The department offers BA, MA, and PhD degrees in Political Science.

This position requires an earned doctorate in Political Science or a closely related field from an accredited institution recognized by the US Department of Education and/or CHEA. Candidates should have teaching experience, evidence of research productivity, and the ability to develop a research agenda resulting in publications in high-quality outlets. ABD candidates will be considered. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
