The University Of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor-In-Residence in the College of Engineering and the Honors College. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, with a demonstrated passion for teaching and industry experience. This faculty-in-residence position reports to both colleges and includes teaching responsibilities across both units, along with curriculum development, program assessment, student mentorship, and other college/university service.
Responsibilities- Teach across the College of Engineering and the Honors College, including first-year seminar courses for engineering majors in the Honors College.
- Develop and deliver interdisciplinary courses such as applied AI, machine vision, immersive design, and sustainable technology practices.
- Contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, and student mentorship.
- Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in Engineering or a closely related field by the time of appointment. The degree must be from an accredited college or university recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and/or CHEA, and must be obtained prior to the start date.
- Strong communication and leadership skills are essential; preference will be given to candidates with prior college-level teaching experience.
- The anticipated start date is August 1, 2026.
At UNLV, the “Professor in-Residence” label refers to teaching positions with a service component, but no research requirement. The position is promo table through traditional rank but is non-tenure track and not a visiting position.
