The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant Professor-in-Residence/Undergraduate and Internship Coordinator/Assessment Chair, Communication Studies [R0150519].
Role of the Position- 12-month Assistant Professor-in-Residence position starting Fall 2026 with assignment as Undergraduate/Internship Coordinator and Chair of Assessment for the Department of Communication Studies.
- Develop and instruct undergraduate and graduate courses for traditional and online degree students; preferred expertise in Instructional Communication, Assessment, and Learning with experience in workforce development/career readiness and experiential/community-based learning.
- Secondary expertise in Interpersonal/Family or Mediated Communication is desired.
- Teaching load typically 12 credit hours per semester (4/4) with service expectations; reassigned time may be available with chair/dean approval.
- Oversee undergraduate curriculum management and assessment as Undergraduate Coordinator; serve as primary contact for internships with students and partner businesses.
- Lead undergraduate degree program assessments and evaluations, including data collection from students, faculty, and industry partners.
- Participate in redeveloping programs, including five workforce readiness microcredentials and online, professional-oriented graduate degree development.
Greenspun College of Urban Affairs, Department of Communication Studies, with ~300 undergraduate majors. Focus areas: organizational/professional, interpersonal/relational, and public communication, persuasion, and advocacy. Programs emphasize professional skill development, critical thinking, and applied learning. Student opportunities include the Department’s debate club, the Com Lab, and the local Lambda Pi Eta chapter.
Minimum Qualifications- Ph.D. in Communication or related field from an accredited institution recognized by the US Department of Education and/or CHEA.
- 1–3 years of related experience; credentials must be obtained prior to start date.
