Job DescriptionThe Tutoring Manager leads the planning, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Roseman University College of Medicine (RUCOM) tutoring program to support student academic success and retention. This role oversees the recruitment, training, and supervision of peer tutors, coordinates tutoring schedules, ensures program quality, and provides support for students identified as academically Tutoring Manager serves as a key coordinator within the Office of Academic and Career Advising (OACA), working collaboratively with faculty, staff, and academic support units to strengthen student learning and success initiatives.
EssentialFunctions
- Direct all tutoring operations (peer and faculty), including scheduling, tutor assignments, service delivery, and quality assurance to ensure the program effectively supports student needs.
- Recruit, hire, train, and supervise peer tutors; provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development.
- Participate in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and schedules for peer tutoring services.
- Track tutoring assignments and service delivery to ensure appropriate student support and program effectiveness.
- Manage the tutoring program budget and oversee tutor compensation processes.
- Partner with faculty, academic departments, and student support services to align tutoring services with curricular needs and student success initiatives.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret tutoring and student success data (e.g., program participation, student outcomes, and service utilization) to assess program effectiveness and identify improvement opportunities.
- Monitor students identified as academically at risk and promote tutoring resources and academic support services.
- Assist students with academic goal-setting and progress tracking and support early intervention for students demonstrating academic difficulty.
- Prepare and present programmatic data and remediation information to faculty and OACA leadership to inform potential program and curriculum improvements.
- Coordinate Office of Academic and Career Advising events, workshops, and meetings.
- Collaborate with learning communities to develop programming and activities that support student academic success.
- Support and attend student engagement activities and events as appropriate.
- Maintain regular attendance and dependable on‑site engagement as required by operational needs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Two (2) or more years of experience in academic support, tutoring coordination, student services, or a related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience in higher education, healthcare education, or clinical education environments preferred.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills, including the ability to interpret, summarize, and present data.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including writing, presenting, and team collaboration.
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with faculty, administrators, staff, and students across diverse communities.
- Demonstrated commitment to student success and academic support initiatives.
- Ability to mentor, supervise, and support a diverse group of peer tutors.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with database systems and scheduling tools.
- Ability to organize and analyze data, track key performance indicators, and prepare reports.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas) preferred.
- Understanding of formative assessment and its application in medical education.
