Instructor, Physical Therapy Assisting Program Director - Tenure Track - Fall 2026

Position:
Full‑time, 10‑month faculty appointment beginning July 1, 2026 (Tenure‑track). The role will lead the Physical Therapy Assisting (PTA) Program at the Engelstad School of Health Science, College of Southern Nevada.

About the Program

The PTA Program prepares students for entry into professional physical therapy assistant careers. The Program Director oversees instructional quality, curriculum development, accreditation compliance, and program administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, coordinate, and evaluate program curriculum, course schedules, and labs.
  • Recruit, screen, hire, supervise, and evaluate part‑time faculty.
  • Manage program budgets, grant development, and procurement of equipment and supplies.
  • Ensure program alignment with industry standards, licensure requirements, and accreditation bodies (NWCCU, CAPTE).
  • Lead accreditation activities: self‑studies, site visits, and compliance reporting.
  • Serve as liaison between students, faculty, and administration, advising students and addressing programmatic concerns.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols for courses and labs.
  • Represent the program on departmental, college, and external committees and stakeholder meetings.
  • Maintain professional credentials, licensure, and certifications required by the profession.
  • Participate in strategic planning and institutional activities as directed.
Required Qualifications
  • Licensed Physical Therapist.
  • Master’s degree or higher in physical therapy, health science, education, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 9 credit hours in foundational education courses per CAPTE requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • College‑level teaching experience, preferably in a PTA program.
  • Academic leadership experience: program oversight, curriculum design, student advising.
  • Experience with CAPTE accreditation processes, including self‑study preparation, candidate application, site visit coordination, and reporting.
Salary and Benefits
  • Salary range for Master’s holders: $58,046–$74,304 / yr. Doctorate holders with 10 yrs. of experience may reach $89,166 / yr.
  • Faculty members eligible for relocation expense reimbursement under the NFA Contract 2022‑2025.
  • Benefit package includes tuition assistance for employees and families, paid holiday schedule, health insurance options, retirement plan with 19.25% contribution and 100% employer match, time‑off policies, and on‑site early childhood education services.
Contractual Details
  • Tenure‑track, 10‑month, full‑time (100% FTE).
  • Position class: B+; requires 21 extra contract days with calculated compensation.
  • Contract effective July 1, 2026 according to CAPTE accreditation timeline.
