Position: 2026 SUMMER BUSINESS INSTITUTE

About the Position

Clark County is accepting online applications for the 2026 Summer Business Institute (SBI) – a paid summer internship program for current high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are at least 16 years old by June 8, 2026
. Virtual interviews will be held from March 2, 2026 through March 27, 2026
.

Program Overview

Clark County launched the SBI Program in 1996 to expose inner‑city youth to a variety of career choices. This is the 30th year of the program, offering internship opportunities in law, business administration, engineering, education, recreation, information technology, and communications.

Internships pay $12.00 per hour for eight‑hour days Monday through Wednesday. Thursday sessions provide seminars on financial management and life skills.

  • Thursday, May 28, 2026 – Orientation
  • Monday, June 8, 2026 – First Day of Internship
  • Wednesday, July 29, 2026 – Last Day of Internship
  • Thursday, July 30, 2026 – SBI Graduation Ceremony
Eligibility and Required Documents

Minimum Requirements:

  • Current high school sophomore, junior, or senior at the time of application.
  • At least a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
  • Age 16 or turning 16 by June 8, 2026

Recruitment is limited to the first 300 applications and will close without notice once that number is reached. Applications must be submitted online via www.clarkcountynv.gov no later than 5:00 PM on February 17, 2026
, and must attach:

  • Most recent school transcript listing all grades earned while attending high school, verifying a GPA of 2.0 or higher; report cards are not accepted.
  • One letter of recommendation dated within the last two months, on official letterhead or signed, from a teacher, school administrator, religious leader, employer, or other individual familiar with the student’s character and work ethic. Recommender may not be an immediate family member.

All applicants must create a profile with a personal email address; do not use a CCSD email.

Drug Screening & Background Check

All hired interns will be required to pass a pre‑employment drug screening. Instructors 18 or older must also pass a background investigation.

Physical Demands

Typical office setting; use of standard office equipment; vision, hearing, speech; lifting or moving heavy materials; may spend time outdoors in summer temperatures. Accommodation may be made for qualified individuals who require and request it.
