Overview

The University Of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for the position of Associate Professor, Higher Education Policy, College of Education [R0149966].

UNLV’s Higher Education program prepares students for research, administrative, and leadership positions in higher education. The program offers a Master of Education, 3 Graduate Certificate Programs (Chief Diversity Officer, College Sports Leadership, Higher Education), and an interdisciplinary Ph.D. in EPOLHE. Program delivery includes face-to-face, online, remote, and hybrid formats. Qualified applicants should be prepared to contribute to the teaching mission at the graduate level.

Responsibilities
  • Serve graduate programs in Higher Education, including the Higher Education Policy doctoral program.
  • Contribute to teaching, mentorship, and advising of graduate students with an equity lens.
  • Engage in community-engaged and critical scholarship; seek external funding where appropriate.
  • Support educational access, equity, and student success; participate in maintaining a respectful, positive work environment.
  • Collaborate with faculty on program development and scholarly activities aligned with the department’s focus areas (higher education policy, student affairs, organizational theory, leadership, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited college or university; academic experience commensurate with the rank of Associate Professor.
  • Capacity to conduct critical, community-engaged scholarship; ability to seek external funding; teach, mentor, and advise graduate students with an equity lens.
  • Experience working in student affairs, higher education administration, and/or leadership is desirable.
Required Qualifications For Associate Professor Rank
  • Earned doctorate in higher education or related field from a regionally accredited college or university;
  • Evidence of national or international reputation as an expert in an area related to higher education or educational leadership;
  • Evidence of a sustained record of research publications;
  • Evidence of excellence in the mentorship of doctoral students;
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching and service.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Evidence of collaboration with individuals in other disciplines or work areas;
  • Experience serving on dissertation committees as chair, co-chair, or member;
  • Active record of procuring grant-based research support.
