The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Admission Counselor, UNLV Undergraduate Recruitment, Transfer Recruitment [R0146633]

ROLE of the POSITION

The Admission Counselor, reporting directly to the Associate Director of Recruitment in the Office of Admissions, maintains a high level of internal and external public contact serving as a liaison between the Office of Admissions, various academic units, and other organizations within the University.

  • Responsible for outreach efforts in recruiting prospective undergraduate and transfer students to the University.
  • Conduct admission presentations; set up workshops for prospective students and families on navigating through the online application system.
  • Participate in recruitment events to provide admission assistance/guidance; bring prospective students and their families to the campus.
  • Make calls to prospects and inquiries for admission counseling.
  • Proactively communicate with admitted students to ensure the students will be matriculating.
  • Make determinations regarding eligibility for admissions based on knowledge and experience of records, transcripts, NSHE policies and official documents, evaluating against the appropriate criterion.
  • Recommend educational goals and admission requirements to potential students.
  • Plan and manage recruitment activities in assigned regions; implement a marketing plan to attract the demographic in target areas set by the Director of Recruitment.
  • Stay abreast of changes in target populations and identify potential barriers to recruiting and admitting new students.
  • Take independent initiative to act in response to such barriers when possible; recommend action to the Associate Director when larger barriers arrive.
  • Provide leadership in carrying out special initiatives as assigned by Director or Associate Director.
  • Travel both in and out of state and work irregular hours as required.

This position is also responsible for contributing to our core mission of increasing enrollment and promoting equitable student success. It will play a part in enhancing student enrollment, retention, successful progression, timely completion, and equitable outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university as recognized by the United States Department of Education and/or the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
  • 1–3 Years of Related Professional Experience.
  • Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.
Required Experience
  • Valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle with valid auto insurance.
