The YMCA of Southern Nevada is looking for a preschool teacher’s aide to assist in our Nevada Ready® Classroom at the Heinrich YMCA from 12:00 pm‑6:00 pm, Monday‑Friday. This position is eligible for health, dental and vision benefits.
About Nevada ReadyNevada Ready! State pre‑K (!
PK) is a state‑funded pre‑kindergarten program designed to support 4‑year‑old children whose families have a household income at or below 200% of the federal poverty level. !
PK implements high‑quality practices through a variety of program requirements including highly qualified teachers, developmentally appropriate curriculum and inclusive learning environments.
- Interact, initiate and encourage children in daily activities
- Help children control behavior using a positive, appropriate approach; always use consistent technique
- Provide nurturance while helping children become independent
- Maintain good communication with parents and help each parent feel at ease within the school
- Assist the teacher in planning activities for the group and offer suggestions and information about children when needed
- Develop a cooperative and supportive attitude within the room
- Assist the master teacher in record keeping by passing on observations regarding children’s health, behavior and development
- Float between classrooms and assist with before‑school/after‑school care as assigned
- Attend bi‑weekly and quarterly staff meetings
- Adhere to policies related to boundaries with children
- Attend required abuse risk management training
- Adhere to procedures related to managing high‑risk activities and supervising children
- Report suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations
- Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements
