Engineering Teacher Afterschool Program

Job Requirements:

• Do you love working with kids?
• Are you a professional educator, or a former educator with classroom management experience?

• Are you willing to travel to different schools in Summerlin, the southwest, and Spring Valley?
• Do you have weekday afternoons free to inspire children in our community?

Schedule:

On School days:
Classes mostly start between 2:00 pm-4:00 pm, each lasting 60 minutes, once a week. You can teach as many classes as your availability allows. Additional pay is provided for setup, dismissal, and prep time. Expect 5-15 hours weekly, with potential for more including evening subbing at our learning center.

Optional Holiday Camp hours:
Teachers are scheduled based on availability for full-day or half-day camps, workshops, and summer camps. Preparation time is paid. Most camps are at our Learning Center.

Pay: The starting rate is typically $15/hour, with potential to start at $17-20/hour for teachers with significant classroom management or science/engineering experience. Pay is biweekly.

Job Description: Lead hands-on engineering and technology projects for ages 7-10, with a teacher-student ratio of 1:16 or less. Curriculum and supplies are provided, along with online and on-the-job training. Focus areas include Aerospace, Marine, Mechanical, Chemical, and Civil Engineering.

Recommended Skills:

Reliability, promptness, organization, communication, patience, ability to travel, people skills, attention to detail. Experience or education in science, education, math, or technology is preferred.
