About the Role

Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP is seeking a Legal Practice Assistant in their Las Vegas, Nevada office. This position requires the ability to work independently, maintain confidentiality, demonstrate professionalism, and work for multiple timekeepers daily. The successful candidate will deliver excellent work and superior service to the firm and the firm’s clients. In addition, the candidate should also be a team player and able to accept constructive feedback and work in a fast‑paced environment.

Responsibilities
  • Schedule and organize meetings, events, and conference calls, working as the liaison between multiple internal departments.
  • Duties include reserving conference rooms, arranging for catering or refreshments, and IT support and equipment as requested.
  • Arrange travel itineraries and all related correspondence as needed.
  • Draft and proofread contracts, pleadings and other written materials with attention to detail using professional and technical writing skills and grammar.
  • Maintain schedules and calendars for attorneys, keeping them organized.
  • Schedule and organize depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, onsite and offsite meetings, conferences, speaking engagements, client proposals and events.
  • Provide daily administrative and clerical support to assigned attorneys.
  • Utilize document management system for both electronic and paper file maintenance and organization.
  • Analyze correspondence and save key documents and emails using a standardized naming convention.
  • Establish and maintain ongoing positive business relationships with clients, attorneys, paralegals, and staff.
  • Perform a variety of new client/new matter tasks.
  • Prepare electronic expense reports.
  • Proofread, format appellate briefs, and perform cite checking.
  • Redline documents using comparison software.
  • Research information requested by attorneys and/or paralegals.
  • Present information and respond to questions from individuals or groups of managers, clients, and timekeepers in a professional and timely manner.
  • Maintain complete confidentiality of client matters through demonstrated diplomacy and discretion.
  • Contribute to a team environment.
  • Enter attorney time as required.
  • Backup duties for other team members.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent; bachelor’s or associate degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience directly supporting multiple lawyers simultaneously; experience should be recent, as the nature of legal support and the technology continues to change and become more sophisticated.
  • Appellate experience strongly desired but other practice areas with similar complexity, time sensitivity, and work tasks will be considered.
  • State and Federal electronic court filing experience required.
  • Hands‑on experience filing, retrieving, and maintaining documents in a sophisticated electronic filing system such as iManage, File Site, or Net Documents on a regular basis.
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration on assignments with demonstrated judgment in when to seek assistance.
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend details and work at a fast pace with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to work assigned schedule with flexibility for overtime as required to meet business needs.
  • Solid time management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication, grammar, proofreading, and typing skills with a strong emphasis on accuracy.
  • Intermediate to advanced MS Word, Excel, and Outlook skills and intermediate PowerPoint skills.
