Staff Accountant

Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our client's team in Las Vegas, Nevada. This role involves managing financial processes across multiple retail, fuel, and franchise restaurant operations. The ideal candidate will contribute to accurate financial reporting, compliance filings, and process improvements while collaborating with various departments.

Responsibilities:

- Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate general ledger records.

- Perform reconciliations for accounts, including balance sheets, bank statements, and merchant deposits.

- Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring precise reporting of financial data.

- Monitor and reconcile inventory, franchise royalties, vendor payables, and other key accounts.

- Support the preparation and filing of sales tax, fuel tax, and compliance reports across multiple states.

- Track and manage fixed assets for store and restaurant locations.

- Investigate and resolve variances in financial records, ensuring data integrity.

- Assist with audit requests and contribute to enhancing financial processes.

- Collaborate with operations and finance teams to ensure the accuracy of financial transactions and reporting.

Requirements

- Minimum of 1 year of accounting experience, preferably in retail or franchise settings.

- Proficiency in general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.

- Experience with account reconciliations, including bank and balance sheet accounts.

- Knowledge of inventory accounting and fixed asset management.

- Familiarity with sales tax and other compliance reporting requirements.

- Ability to manage month-end and year-end closing processes effectively.

- Strong analytical skills to investigate and resolve discrepancies.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams.
