Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides patient-centered care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role involves coordinating and delivering high-quality care based on clinical protocols and physician orders, collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure effective patient care and outcomes.
Essential Functions
- Coordinates and delivers high-quality, patient-centered care according to policies and protocols.
- Conducts thorough patient assessments and documents findings.
- Provides age-appropriate care and education.
- Administers medications, monitors side effects, and documents accordingly.
- Assists physicians during procedures within competency levels.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates care plans.
- Responds to emergencies, including CPR and code team activities.
- Advocates for patient rights and needs.
- Provides education on conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care.
- Implements infection control protocols.
- Operates medical equipment safely.
- Ensures patient safety and maintains a clean environment.
- Participates in audits and compliance checks.
- Documents patient care thoroughly and promptly.
- Engages in professional development and quality improvement initiatives.
Specialized Nursing Roles
- OR Services RN: Provides pre, intra, and post-surgical care, assists during surgeries, and maintains sterile environments.
- Cardiac Surgery RN: Monitors cardiac patients, administers medications, and manages recovery post-surgery.
- Endoscopy RN: Prepares patients, assists during procedures, and provides post-procedure care.
- PACU RN: Monitors patients waking from anesthesia, manages pain, and educates about post-surgical care.
Qualifications
- 0-2 years of clinical nursing experience or student rotations in acute care required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong nursing knowledge and assessment skills.
- Proficient in medication administration and documentation.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of safety, infection control, and quality initiatives.
Licenses and Certifications
- RN license in applicable state or compact state.
- BCLS required; ACLS, PALS, NRP preferred.
