Job DescriptionPURPOSE SUMMARY. Provides tactical and strategic analysis of criminal cases and activities to requesting legal and law enforcement agencies, under general supervision. Employee will perform tactical and strategic analysis to produce evaluations of complex criminal cases and predict trends and patterns of existing or future criminal activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES.
- Conducts the review of data, research and tactical analysis of complex criminal conspiracy investigations to assist in the developing information supportive of federal and state criminal prosecutions; including organizing large amounts of diverse information and facts into a clear and concise analytical form, developing and preparing charts, graphs, timelines, and spreadsheets to graphically depict criminal activities and associations.
- Prepares and presents oral briefings and/or written reports to law enforcement investigative prosecution personnel, as well as to law enforcement management.
- Devises, plans and prepares computer generated graphics in support of a wide range of criminal investigative activities.
- Develops logical inferences from information and facts collected from a variety of sources.
- Collects, organizes and disseminates criminal investigative facts and information to support investigative activities.
- Testifies in federal and state judicial proceedings relating to criminal analytical work products and assignments.
- Creates, adjusts and/or manages automated data and information files to accommodate and enhance specific investigative information.
- Responsible for knowing and abiding by all department and county policies and procedures.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES. Performs additional related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS.
A. Education. High School Diploma or Equivalent
B. Experience. Five (5) years experience in analysis of criminal/crime information, the analysis of business/financial records, police science, criminal justice, criminology, criminal investigations as a legal assistant, paralegal, law clerk, bank operations officer or any other experience involving extensive research. Prior law enforcement experience preferred.
C. Education/Experience substitution. In accordance with County policy
D. Licenses/Certifications. Must have a valid driver’s license
E. Other. Background Check, driver’s license record, and NCIC
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION:
Must have knowledge of: methods and principles of time and project management. Federal and State, judicial and legal structures. Extensive computer skills, computer programs, computer graphics, spreadsheets and database manipulation. The application of data collection procedures and evaluative techniques as well as intelligence cycle.
Must have skill in: communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with excellent technical writing abilities sufficient to prepare reports and clear, concise intelligence work product. Organizing and managing large quantities of diverse information and data. Extrapolating and estimating existing intelligence data from intelligence databases such as LEXIS/NEXIS, TECS, CJIS, AUTOTRACK. Establishing and maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships with others
Compensation Range
$25.41 - $41.25
Salary/Compensation: $25.41 - $41.25 per hour
