Salary

$16.50 - $24.75 Hourly
$34,320 - $51,480 Annually
This position is a Pay Band C2.

About the Public Health Division

Public Health Division Southwest Region is comprised of eight counties and works to promote health and wellness, improve health outcomes, and assure safety net services for all people in New Mexico.

Why does the job exist?

This position will provide first line customer service to the public and support clinical services for the Las Cruces Public Health Office and other health offices as needed. This position will serve as backup to Vital Records services. Interviews are anticipated to be conducted within two weeks of closing date.

How does it get done?

This position will be responsible for:

  • Scheduling clients, scanning and sorting medical records into Electronic Health Record (EHR), fee collection and documentation, taking messages for nurses and clinicians and appointment reminder calls.
  • Utilizing the Billing and Electronic Health Record (BEHR) system and the New Mexico State Immunization Information System (NMSIIS) data.
  • Provide harm reduction services by ordering supplies, stocking registering new clients and performing syringe exchanges.
  • Assisting clinic staff in the clinic and performing certified lab testing.
  • Managing and processing office and medical supply orders.
  • Serving as backup to Vital Records when needed.
  • Providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has experience:

  • Providing excellent customer service skills.
  • Multitasking and addressing issues and concerns while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Using an electronic medical records system to document clients information.
  • Fluent in both English and Spanish.
Minimum Qualification

Eighth grade education.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. Services are provided in a clinic with diverse population, many who do not speak the English language. Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Travel to satellite offices, meetings, training sessions, and special events with the occasional overnight stay is required.
