Classification Standard Duties:
Plans, develops, and coordinates PSL student support programs, special projects, curriculum development, and other initiatives to recruit and retain students within the targeted student population or college. Oversees and administers all facets of the day-to-day operations of the various programs and activities related to the position. Serves as liaison with internal and external contacts on matters relating to the program(s) activities on a local, regional, and/or national basis.
Provides and/or coordinates activities related to students participating in the programs; acts as a student advocate and provides day-to-day problem-solving as necessary. Oversees and/or coordinates the collection and analysis of program activity data; develops, writes, edits, and presents statistical and narrative program reports and evaluations. May plan, develop, and implement strategies for identifying and generating funding and/or resource opportunities for program activities, including developing grant and other fundraising proposals.
Participates in developing goals and objectives; recommends, implements, and administers methods and procedures to enhance operations as appropriate to the unit. Supervises personnel, which typically includes recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Required Education, Experience Required
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a related field.
Required Experience:
Three (5) years of experience in the standard duties as outlined.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities KNOWLEDGE:
Knowledge of student recruitment and retention issues. Knowledge of a range of recruitment strategies and techniques. Knowledge of targeted recruitment principles, procedures, and resources. Knowledge of student outreach services and activities.
SKILL S:
Data management and records maintenance skills. Performance management skills.
ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to develop and implement recruitment plans. Ability to analyze and solve problems. Ability to plan community outreach projects. Ability to analyze course prerequisites, certification, and/or curriculum/graduation requirements. Ability to coordinate and organize meetings and/or special events. Ability to design and develop recruitment plans. Knowledge of community outreach practices
