Standard (M-F, 8-5)
Job Duties and Responsibilities: The primary job duties will be to teach undergraduate courses in the department of kinesiology. The following courses may be taught, but are not limited to:
- Anatomy and Physiology
- Exercise Physiology
- Exercise for Special Populations
- Exercise Testing and Prescription
- Introduction to Kinesiology
- Interferential Statistics
The job also requires service to NMSU and the department of Kinesiology through committee assignments.
QualificationsRequired
Education and Experience:
- Possess an earned doctorate from an accredited institution of higher education in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, or related field. ABD is acceptable with a graduation date prior to the start at NMSU.
- Be able to provide undergraduate instruction in the area(s) of Nutrition and Metabolism for Sport, Anatomy and Physiology, Exercise Prescription for Clinical Populations, Exercise Physiology, and/or Introduction to Kinesiology.
- Demonstrated a commitment to student mentoring and advising.
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Show evidence of high-quality instruction at the undergraduate level in a variety of kinesiology courses.
- Provide evidence of service work within an academic setting.
- Certified ACSM-EP and/or Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.
No special certifications or licensure required.
Working Conditions and Physical EffortEnvironment: Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Physical Effort: No or very limited physical effort required.
Lifting Requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking.
Risk: No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
