Position SummaryThis is a working supervisor position that will oversee 2 FTEs while also working a caseload of families or individuals in need of targeted prevention from homelessness. Families and individuals who are permanently housed but are at risk of homelessness due to rent arrears and/or past‑due utilities in selected zip codes across Pinellas County. This is a field‑based position with no opportunity for remote or work‑from‑home.
The Supervisor of Targeted Prevention will play an integral role in support, coaching, and guidance for a pair of Targeted case managers who are working with adults and families who are at risk of homelessness due to an inability to cover rent or utilities, and who would otherwise be homeless without prevention assistance. The supervisor will ensure that the case‑management services delivered are individualized, recovery‑focused, and empower clients to manage their own advocacy process.
The position requires expertise in behavioral health case management and homeless interventions that enhance recovery development, natural supports, and self‑management skills. The supervisor will ensure team services emphasize personal safety, self‑worth, confidence, growth, community connection, boundary setting, planning, self‑advocacy, personal fulfillment, and development of social supports. The role will monitor and support coordination with other service providers such as psychiatry, SOAR, and behavioral health services, and will document and monitor client engagement with recommended services.
This is a field position and the supervisor is responsible for ensuring an annual client‑facing hours of 10,716, which includes a minimum of 1,786 hours per Prevention team member (6). Achieving the minimum required weekly, monthly and annual client‑facing hours is essential.
Directions for Living is an essential services provider. All employees must be willing and able to provide vital support and essential services during emergencies, pandemics, or other disaster situations.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree in Human Services with a minimum of two years’ leadership experience within an outpatient community mental health organization, homeless services organization, or social service agency
- Must have or immediately acquire knowledge of all community resources
- Computer literate: proficient in Outlook, Excel, Word, Windows, and able to learn other software quickly; competent in electronic health record use, including the Pinellas Homeless Information Management System (P‑HMIS)
- Reliable transportation; personal vehicle for client transport with a clear driving record, valid Florida driver’s license, and required automobile insurance coverage
